Knee Pain

About Your Knees

knee-pain-imgThe knee is a critical joint, used repetitively while running, jogging or taking part in other activities. The knee  is in fact  the largest joint in the body, and contains crucial ligaments, bursae, and tendons surrounding the knee joint that are all susceptible to injury.

Causes of Knee Pain

Knee pain can result from a variety of factors:

  • Overuse injuries, often seen in athletes or those who are doing intense physical activity on a regular basis.
  • Arthritis and other underlying conditions.
  • Your age. Knee pain tends to become prevalent as you get older.
  • Standing for long periods or working on  hard surfaces can lead to knee pain problems over time.

Visit your doctor if you are experiencing intense knee pain, cannot fully bend your knee or need help walking.

Treatment and Prevention at Foot Solutions®

Treatment depends on where your knee pain is centralised, the type of knee pain you are experiencing (intense/acute?) and the severity of your knee injury. Other considerations in choosing a treatment include your age, the overall condition of your body, your health, and activity level.

That said, one reliable way to reduce knee pain is RICE.
